Mixed media Geert De Bruyn 'Untitled' - Drawing/watercolor on panel - Netherlands - 1990-1999
The Dutch contemporary artist Geert De Bruyn was born in Amsterdam in 1956 and completed his studies in visual arts at the art academy in 's Hertogenbosch in 1983. Geert De Bruyn's works are inspired by observations of existence, matter, spirituality and visual stories about culture and nature. Geert de Bruijn shows us universal truths, personified by gods and goddesses, written down in archaic formal language. They are the process of birth, life and death and the carriers of time and space. They are the center of every goal: the beginning and the end.
Geert De Bruyn delves into the history of the mother goddess and translates it into unmistakably 20th-century paintings. The mother goddess is his all-encompassing impulse. An inexhaustible source of inspiration, which is reflected in his work in many ways. First on paper and in images, in recent years also in assemblages.
