The French potter Roger Guérin (1896-1954) had a studio in the Belgian town of Bouffioulx. This place was known as the village of the potters, as the clay in the area is suitable for making hard-fired pottery. Baking has been done here in this way since the 15th century and Roger Guérin came here in 1918. Roger Guérin's studio made decorative pottery involving vases, sculptures and tiles and grew into a factory where work was also made based on designs by others such as Chris Lebeau and Cris Agterberg.
