Laurens Janda: 'Portrait of a man' - Belgium - mixed media - 1990-1999
Special (self?) portrait of the Wetteren artist Laurens Janda (Wetteren, 1913-2003). Signed by the master lower right and professionally framed.
This highly underestimated Belgian painter, etcher, ceramist, singer and glass blower quickly progressed in his youth via the academies of Wetteren and Ghent to the Higher Institute of Antwerp, where his talent was always recognized and acknowledged. Janda soon discovered his own style between figurative and abstract and discovered the world that inspired him, between the Scheldt and the Ganges, as his retrospective was called in 2018. Inspiration that he gave free rein to in his studio in Laarne.
