Exceptionally large still life with candle and vegetables by the Belgian painter Karel Brenders (1921-?). Oil on canvas, signed (and dated) and professionally framed.

Karel Brenders comes from Hofstade (Zemst) and was educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In his career he focused mainly on making miniatures, for which he enjoyed international recognition with the American Certificate of Excellence, awarded by The Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers in Washington and the Gold Medal awarded by L'Academie des Sciences-Lettres and Beaux Arts of Arras.
