Beautiful, signed lithograph in pencil (92/250) by the German painter and graphic artist Hans Prähofer (1920-2005) with a city view. Titled (illegible) in the print with description and date (1983). Professionally framed.
Hans Prähofer (Berlin, 1920 - 2005) was a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist and writer. Hans Prähofer was born in Traunstein, but grew up in Mühldorf am Inn. He studied visual arts with Adolf Schinnerer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. At the same time, at the request of his father, he had to train as a butcher, in 1937 he became a soldier and two years later he was called up for military service. After the Second World War, Prähofer first worked as a journalist for the Oberbayerische Volksblatt and wrote court and police reports. In the early 1950s Prähofer moved to Munich. Here he wrote the autobiographical novel "Die Drachenschaukel" for which he became famous.
Prähofer's photographs and works show a broad talent, from simple brushstrokes to printmaking, mural painting and smoothing techniques to glass windows, metal relief and art in architecture. He had solo exhibitions in Switzerland, New York City, Detroit, Berlin and Munich.
