Lumina Flip22 by Heinrich Wiederhold - Aluminium, steel - Italy - 1990-1999
An iconic design classic on offer with this Flip22 light fixture by the Italian design brand Lumina, designed by the German designer Heinrich Wiederhold in gray, anodized aluminum. With mark inside the lampshade.
Flip 22 consists of a flexible telescopic arm, the joint at the top of which is a steel ball. The arm can therefore be rotated 360° and is also adjustable in length between 94 cm and 140 cm. Heinrich Wiederhold's idea is to illuminate a room centrally with a telescopic arm when the ceiling connection is not where it should be. The different versions of the metal reflector and the diffused lighting of the methacrylate reflector enable a wide range of installations in the home, office or public space.
The company was founded in 1980, at the beginning of a decade of wonderful disruption in Italian design: it was the years of the postmodern movement, the Memphis Group and Alchimia, and the international success of Italian style and know-how. Lumina, a manufacturer of lighting products whose main strengths are construction ability and quality control in the service of simple and technological lamps, grew out of Tommaso Cimini's vision. When he founded the company in 1980 in Sedriano (a small town near Milan), he already had one principle very clear: it is function that generates form. With his ingenuity, innate ability to innovate and deep knowledge of materials, Tommaso Cimini was able to make Lumina a timeless icon of Italian design.
