Roger Dewriter: 'Cold Winter' - Oil on canvas' - Belgium - 1960-1969
Beautiful work by the Ghent/Aalterian painter Roger Dewriter from his series 'Koude Winters'. This wintry heath landscape is typical of the tonality and mood in Deschryver's works. Hand signed lower right by the master and in a frame of black stained oak.
Roger Dewriter (Ghent, 1921-1988) was educated by Hubert Malfait at the Art Academy in Ghent. There he learned the preference for realistic but captivating landscape paintings and later portraits and graphics. Exhibited many times and also got his own art book. In his later days he lived in Aalter, where he had his studio.
