Antique chromolithograph of the original watercolor 'The Complete Angler' by renowned British painter and illustrator, Lawson Wood. Copyright belonged to the legendary British publisher Lawrence & Jelliecoe Ltd. London, but printed in Belgium by the famous Brussels printer and screen printer J.L Goffart, early last century. Signed in the plate and beautifully framed in gilt oak.

Lawson Wood (23 August 1878, Highgate, London – 26 October 1957, Devon) was an English painter, draftsman and designer known for his humorous images. He also illustrated a number of books. He was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolors and has exhibited work at Walker's Galleries, Brook Street Art Gallery and the Royal Academy.

The drawing is based on the book 'The Compleat Angler' by Izaak Walton, first published in 1653 by Richard Marriot in London. Walton kept adding a quarter of a century to it. It is a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse.
