Exceptional and rare copy of the Missale Romanum 'The Catholic. A prayer book for Roman Catholics' in an edition of Spitaels in Antwerp in the 1900s of the last century. The book edge is gilded and the cover of the prayer book consists of beautifully executed hardcover in faux tortue. A personal dedication refers to May 4, 1904.
This is a very complete prayer book containing all the masses of the missale romanum, Dutch and Latin texts, the feasts of our dioceses, the vespers of all Sundays and holidays of the church year, in addition to various prayers and exercises. Beautifully illustrated with devotional prints by the legendary publisher and lithographic printer L. Dopter from Paris. Dopter first appeared in the Bibliographie de France in 1830 and was particularly prolific in the creation of lithographic devotional prints around 1874/77.
