Particularly large, impressive expressionist farm landscape at sunset by the Flemish priest-painter Monald-Omer Gailliaert (1912-1973). Signed and dated (1968) by the master on the lower right and beautifully understated in gilded wood.

Monard Gailliaert was born in Bruges in 1912 and was a priest, chaplain, Friar Minor Capuchin and painter of mainly landscapes in the expressionist style of the Latem School. He was also a member of the art circle 'Sint-Martens-Latem. Gaillaert died in Sint-Martens-Latem at the age of 61.
