Emiel De Cooman (Geraardsbergen, 1922 - Appelterre, 2021) was a productive Belgian painter and etcher who learned to etch and engrave at the age of 14 in the studio of his father, Jan De Cooman. He found his inspiration for landscapes and cityscapes mainly in the Flemish Ardennes: he loved the silence and the beauty of this region. He is also mentioned in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. He died at the age of 98.
