Color engraving 'Bruges. Palace of Justice with fine carved chimney' - Allom, Wallis - United Kingdom - 1830-1949
Very rare, hand-coloured engraving, entitled 'Bruges. Palace of Justice with fine carved chimney' from ca. 1830 - 1840 by the famous British etchers and engravers Thomas Allom (1804-1872) and Robert William Wallice (1794-1878). Released by Fisher, Son & Co London & Paris and certificate of authenticity and age from the famous The St-James's Collection London.
The engraving shows a beautiful, animated scene of a trial in the Mansion of the Brugse Vrije where the Bruges court was located from the end of the 18th century until 1984, with the monumental 16th-century Keizer-Karel mantelpiece, in oak, marble and alabaster, designed by Lanceloot Blondeel.
