Antique Clock Man - Jan van Egmond - Cast Iron - Netherlands - 1940-1949

Authentic, original and wonderfully patinated Black Forest clock in the shape of the legendary clock man from the 19th century. At that time, clock sellers went door to door to sell their goods. When the real clock men disappeared, clocks were made in cast iron from homage in the early 20th century. One of the most famous manufacturers of this type of clocks was that of Jan van Egmond. The clock is also signed by him at the bottom (J.v.E.). This clock man dates from the 1940s. Exceptional in its original patina, where many have been painted over over time, including original crank and key. Not tested.
