The world-famous composer Franz Schubert spent his entire life in his native city of Vienna. He was born in a mansion in the 9th arrondissement – Schubert's current birthplace – and died at the age of just 31 in his brother Ferdinand's apartment. The apartment where he died has always been a place of pilgrimage for Schubert admirers from all over the world and displays his last musical designs, historical documents related to his death and his last handwritten letter.
