Antoon De Clerck: 'Museum' - Lithograph - Belgium - 1970-1979

Limited edition lithograph (edition 92/999) by the Belgian painter Antoon De Clerck (1923-1980), entitled 'Museum'. Signed by the master. This lithograph was made following a visit by Antoon De Clerck and Roger Raveel to an international exhibition with works by the English artist Richard Long. During a study weekend, both artists made these drawings of their experience, which also resulted in the first lithographs being released (and signed) by Antoon De Clerck.

Antoon De Clerck (1923 – 1980) was a companion of the Belgian painter Roger Raveel and writer Hugo Claus. For example, Antoon De Clerck became deeply intrigued by the New Vision of Raveel, with whom he had a number of joint projects. But he followed his own path and distinguished himself with his talent in the field of graphic design and typography, and found his own path that was strongly aligned with the prevailing hyperrealism. His hometown of Aalter regularly featured in his hyper-realistic work. Paintings by Antoon De Clerck are mainly in private collections (both private and banking institutions), but also in museum collections, including in the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art in Ghent, the Provincial Museum of Modern Art in Ostend, the Museum of Fine Arts in Ostend, the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in Hasselt and the Museum of Deinze and the Leie Region in Deinze.
